. . . summer 2019, beach of Bornholm, Denmark — Amid the tranquility of an endless Scandinavian summer, the idea for a new band was born. At that point, we weren’t quite sure where the journey would take us.
One thing was clear from the start: we didn’t want to be a band, playing “oldies” or songs that thousand other bands already had in their repertoires. Nor did we want to be a specific tribute band — our musical tastes were simply too diverse for that, despite sharing a common vision. - “All-Tribute Band” might be a closer description! - It was going to be hard progressive rock, from bands that are currently popular, songs no more than 10 years old, or newly recorded tracks by “old masters” in a new genre . . . not too many songs by a single artist, catchy rhythms, catchy riffs, and harmonies that stick in your head!
We’d also welcome second-tier artists, the so-called “insider favorites” - In that mindset the new formation has been born as a "Tribute to Rock, Progressive & Metal", because of so much songs from many various genres.
A rehearsal space had already been lined up. A bassist . . . and possibly someone on keyboards. Then we could get started . . . In November 2019, the time had finally come. The first rehearsal with a bassist took place; drums and keyboards were played back via backing tracks . . .
It soon became clear, that we badly needed a drummer, who might be able to play all those f***in' songs, we had in our mind. We're looking for someone who wasn’t “afraid of the big guns”, and the best part was, it was right on our doorstep, right in our neighbourhood: Tim – who was just 18 at the time – had been practising the drums in the basement of his parents’ house for eight years

In March 2020, the band was complete with Katharina on the keys and DIRK as the second guitarist — and the days of using backing tracks vanished into haze! Over the years, the bassists in particular have come and gone—no idea why (?!) . . . The band has now found the right bassist for them in CLEMENS.
During the COVID-19 pandemic it has been also the time, when we found our bandname: - walking the dogs at daylight has been prohibited by law, so we had to go by night. Then, in the dark of the night and the shimmering moonlight, we met him: the CREEPING FOX !
It took a while before we’d put together a repertoire that was good enough to enter the stage, and on 22 October 2022, the big day finally arrived. CREEPING FOX made their debut at a small club called KULTURRAMPE in Krefeld in front of over 100 invited guests.
As a band that covers such a wide range of genres, it was incredibly difficult to secure gigs in the years that followed, as the operating conditions in clubs and venues had also changed significantly in the wake of the pandemic.
This makes it all the more significant that, following their gigs to date in the immediate and wider vicinity – even as far afield as Cologne – a close-knit community with similar musical skills and goals has formed . . . and that there is already a small fanbase for CREEPING FOX.
In april 2026 we performed our first own song, written by our lead vocalist and co-founder JUTTA at the KRACHGARTEN, a high castle for punk and metal music in Wesel.
The story ist going on . . .
